Sculptor exhibiting at the Montreux Biennale of Sculpture on our site

Sculpture 'Momentum' aims for a permanent spot in Wuppertal's Sculpture Mile, Wupperpark West. However, prior to this, a tour of the proposed large sculpture's model will be conducted. As such, the exhibition series by sculptor Beate Schroedl-Baurmeister is titled 'Momentum in Transit'.

In the picturesque setting between Lake Geneva and the towering mountains of Montreux, Switzerland, more than 40 international artists have brought their works to life in a unique open-air gallery. Among them is Beate Schroedl-Baurmeister, whose oversized stainless steel sculpture "Verve" from the "Momentum" series is currently on display.

The sculpture, which stands tall at over 250 centimeters, fulfills the requirement to stand out against the stunning mountain panorama. "Verve" contrasts with the idyllic setting of the exhibition site, questioning the apparent harmony of the world.

Beate Schroedl-Baurmeister's "Momentum" series is a metaphor for personal challenges and fateful events. The artist traveled to Montreux for the installation of "Verve", and if her sculpture wins either the audience award or the jury award, it can remain permanently in Montreux.

The audience is involved in the selection process through two prizes awarded by the city: a public prize and a jury prize. Beate Schroedl-Baurmeister aims to make art for the public space visible and tangible before a permanent installation.

The artworks in the exhibition, including "Verve", are nestled in this breathtaking setting during the exhibition, which runs until November 2025. The sculpture was previously exhibited four times in Wuppertal and was later showcased at the 60th Venice Biennale in 2024.

Every two years, the lakeside promenade of Lake Geneva transforms into an open-air gallery, hosting the 9th Sculpture Biennale in Montreux. With the participation of over 40 international artists, the event promises to be a must-see for art enthusiasts from around the world.
